PURPOSE
Standing committees are appointed to checkmate and take care of several activities, such as medical laboratory education, research exchange, antimicrobial resistance, public health, sexual and reproductive health including HIV and AIDS.,
The general function of standing committees is to strengthen AFMLSSA activities across health research, education and service as expressed in the Constitution. Committees promote particular area of interest and improving AFMLSSA activities; gather and disseminate information on good practices, training modules, opportunities and research; facilitate partnership development; improve articulation and coordination of activities between members.

STANDING COMMITTEE ON PROFESSIONAL EXCHANGE (SCOPE).
Electives, international clerkships and AFMLSSA international elective are all examples of professional exchanges that take place between medical laboratory students. Work to familiarize medical laboratory students with the various medical laboratory education systems in Africa. Help medical laboratory students understand the various perspectives, magnitude, and similarities of health problems in various regions of Africa, as well as the various remedies to those problems. To give the students the opportunity to learn more about Africa, her people, her customs, her land, and her aspirations. To give medical laboratory students in Africa more fruitful, beneficial, and educational electives since the continent’s health issues are generally similar to those encountered elsewhere, as opposed to the results attained by traveling to other continents, where the major health issues, socioeconomic conditions, and cultural norms are completely different from those encountered in Africa. clinical clerkship defined as the period of time a clinical student spends working and studying at a hospital or clinic’s clinical department without being paid.

STANDING COMMITTEE ON MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE EDUCATION
To emphasize and encourage medical laboratory science students’ originality and initiative. To motivate NMO to take an active role in talks about training for medical laboratories. To look into and implement improved teaching, examination, and selection practices. Establishing agreements for cooperation and oversight of the NMO’s medical laboratory Education with the authorities of the medical laboratory school. Providing NMO with information on significant publications pertaining to medical laboratory teaching, as well as the curricula at all NMO’s medical laboratory schools. Carrying out a survey on unique subjects related to medical laboratory student education. Putting together a report on its endeavors in medical laboratory education and research, together with an assessment of its performance, to be delivered to the Executive Board and General Assembly.

STANDING COMMITTEE ON RESEARCH EXCHANGE.
To promote the instruction of medical laboratory science students in the methods and concepts of research. To coordinate research efforts and evaluate how well they will be used in practice. To compile and share initial findings. Sending out a list of fresh publications on student research and medical laboratory education every five months. Promote the NMO’s involvement in medical research. Establishing agreements for cooperation and oversight of the NMO’s medical laboratory. Research activity with the authorities of the medical laboratory school. Providing NMO with information on significant publications pertaining to medical laboratory research. fresh literature lists on student research and medical laboratory education available. Putting together a report on its endeavors in medical laboratory research, together with an assessment of its performance, to be delivered to the Executive Board and General Assembly.

STANDING COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC HEALTH (SCOPH).
Assume responsibility for the environmental and health-related work done by AFMLSSA. Give NMOs advice on public health issues. keeping regular contact with other organizations doing research on occupations in the health and environment fields. Be in charge of executing Drug Appeals to pharmaceutical companies in several nations for the AFMLSSA public health initiative. Be in charge of coordinating the request for medical equipment that NMOs that need it can use. Be in charge of getting in touch with other international organizations to look at ways to get medical laboratory students involved in global public health issues. Immediately contact the President of AFMLSSA if a national disaster results in a global appeal for medical laboratory equipment. With his approval, distribute information about SCOPH’s current commitments to all NMOs and suggest which organizations they might contact in their own countries to help with the appeal.

STANDING COMMITTEE ON ANTIMICROBIAL RESISTANCE
They play a vital part in the multi-faceted fight against antimicrobial resistance, which is critical for protecting public health and ensuring effective treatments for infectious diseases. Committees often lead initiatives to educate healthcare professionals, policymakers, and the public about the dangers of AMR, the importance of responsible antibiotic use, and strategies for prevention.They may advocate for and support research initiatives aimed at understanding AMR mechanisms, developing new antimicrobials, and finding alternative treatment strategies. Committees will facilitate collaboration between African federation of medical laboratory science students and various stakeholders, including government agencies, healthcare providers, academic institutions, and the pharmaceutical industry, to create a unified approach to tackling AMR.

STANDING COMMITTEE ON SEXUAL AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH AND RIGHTS INCLUDING HIV AND AIDS (SCORA)
SCORA prioritizes educating medical laboratory science students and the general public about sexual and reproductive health and rights, equipping them with the knowledge necessary to provide comprehensive care and perform effective advocacy. This involves organizing workshops, seminars, and discussion panels focused on topics including contraception, sexual education, maternal health, and the rights of marginalized populations. SCORA actively engages with policymakers and stakeholders to emphasize the importance of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). By leveraging research and evidence-based findings, the committee aims to influence health policies and ensure that SRHR are recognized as fundamental human rights. Recognizing the critical connection between sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS, SCORA plays an instrumental role in combating stigma, promoting testing and analysis, and advocating for treatment and preventative measures. The committee focuses on destigmatization of HIV/AIDS, fostering understanding, and improving access to care for affected individuals. SCORA encourages and supports research initiatives aimed at understanding the landscape of SRHR and identifying gaps in existing policies and practices. By collaborating with universities, international organisation, companies and research institutions, the committee seeks to generate high-quality data that can inform evidence-based interventions. In a world where sexual and reproductive health and rights are still contentious issues, the work of the Standing Committee on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights including HIV and AIDS (SCORA) is indispensable. By fostering education, promoting advocacy, and driving research.
