Dr. Godswill Okara is a Foundation Fellow and Registrar/Secretary General of the West African Postgraduate College of Medical Laboratory Science, and Member, Board of Directors of the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science (IFBLS) 2022-2024; Member, ECOWAS Regional Council for Health Professionals’ Education (ERCHPE).
He is an Immunologist and Clinical Chemist, an alumnus of the Brunel University London, UK and University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. A former University Lecturer and Head of the Department of Chemical Pathology, College of Medical Sciences, University of Maiduguri and University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. He has served as a Senior National Biomedical Consultant on upscale of COVID-19 Laboratory testing to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) and the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN). He is a past President of the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria. An appointed Key Opinion Leader & Advisory Board Member for Africa of the BD Diagnostics International. He is an educator and mentor of young professionals, and a consummate conference speaker.
