Michael Sieh Turay holds a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science with honors from the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences, University of Sierra Leone (COMAHS-USL). Throughout his academic journey, Michael demonstrated remarkable leadership and commitment, serving in various capacities. He was the overall Music Director for the COMAHS Evangelical Students, Secretary General of the Old Makeni Franciscans Association (COMAH Chapter), and a member of the Education Committee of the OMFA National Body.
Michael also contributed as a member of the Constitutional Review Committee of the Student Representative Council at COMAHS-USL. Further extending his leadership, he served as the National Exchange Officer for the Association of Laboratory Medicine Students, Sierra Leone, eventually rising to the position of President. During his tenure, he partnered with international medical laboratory student associations across Africa and was a key pioneer in forming the African Federation of Medical Laboratory Science Students Associations. As President, Michael organized the first National Congress of Medical Laboratory Science Students, attended by key stakeholders from the Ministry of Health, universities, and NGOs. His contributions extended beyond Sierra Leone, where he has served as a guest speaker at several health-related programs and webinars across Africa. Michael has received numerous awards, including a Certificate of Outstanding Performance from the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, several leadership and academic awards from the Sierra Leone Fellowship of Evangelical Students, and the Overall Best Graduating Student from his faculty, earning over seven awards. He also received an Outstanding Leadership Award from the Association of Laboratory Medicine Students, Sierra Leone.
He was recognized as one of the 50 Most Influential Students in Sierra Leone. Michael currentlyserves as an advisory board member to the OMFA-COMAHS-USL Chapter, a Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science and Diagnostics at COMAHS-USL, and is a Doctor of Medical Laboratory Science candidate.
